Double Major in IE

The Regulations for Double Major Programs in Boğaziçi University is available here (in Turkish).

Industrial Engineering Department Students:

Industrial Engineering Department undergraduate students can apply to double major programs in:  Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

Industrial Engineering students enrolled in double major programs of other departments should take all departmental elective courses of the Industrial Engineering curriculum. Students can reduce their course load by selecting complementary and free electives from the double major department. Courses taken in one of the double major programs can fill a complementary slot in the other program. It is also possible to select Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) courses that simultaneously meet the HSS course requirements of the double major program.

Other Departments' Students:

Students of Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering departments can apply to the Industrial Engineering double major program.

The minimum GPA requirement for application is 3.35.

Applications can be made beginning from the start of 3rd semester until the start of 5th semester. The quota is 2 students for the Fall semester and 1 student for the Spring semester. Applications must be made by the deadline for double major / minor programs as stated in Academic Calendar. While the exact deadlines vary by year, usually deadline for Fall semester is set as early August, and deadline for Spring semester is in early January. 

Double major students should complete 15 workdays of extra training in addition to 60-day internship requirement of their own departments. Students of Computer Engineering department should complete 15 workdays of production internship, students of Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering departments should complete 15 workdays of information technologies internship.

Courses taken in one of the double major programs can be used to fill a complementary slot in the other program. It is also possible to select Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) courses that simultaneously meet the HSS course requirements of both of the programs.
